Why Our Group Trips Feel Like Traveling With Your Best Friends

Hi friends. It’s Kate, and I’m so excited to chat with you today about one of my favorite things: our special group trips.

You know how much I love the thoughtful details when we’re planning and booking a perfect trip. One of my favorite parts of the whole river cruise experience is seeing our group gather after a day of exploring. Hearing all your stories about what you were up to—from discovering a hidden pastry shop to finding that perfect scenic view—is such pure joy.

We even use a shared photo app, which is a game-changer. Maybe I didn’t get the perfect picture of the Parthenon, but someone else in our group did. Sharing photos sparks the best conversations, too. Since we can’t all do everything in a town, it’s so much fun to see what others experienced through their eyes (and pictures!).

Pre-Trip Prep: Getting Ready Together

I want you to feel totally prepared and excited long before you step onto the ship. To help get us all ready, we have at least three group sessions before we leave:

Virtual Meet & Greets: We have a session just for introductions. It’s so much fun learning about the other wonderful people coming along. It’s often where people start to see those fun similarities—and I’ve even seen people who live close to each other meet for the very first time.
Prep Sessions: We get together, and I go over important items for planning the trip. This is where we discuss crucial details like what’s included (and what isn’t!), flight tips, making sure you have the right trip protection, and any necessary documentation, including your required flight documents.
Excursion & Extension Planning: We’ll go over all the excursion choices to help you make the most of your time, and we’ll talk about pre- and post-trip extensions so you know all your options for the best trip imaginable.

The Special Moments (That Others Miss Out On)

One of the biggest advantages of traveling with our group is that I often plan something extra special that other travelers don’t even know about.

For example, on our past trip to Lake Como, I found out about a private classical concert at a centuries-old villa. We spent an incredible evening listening to an opera singer and a pianist right on the lake—it was unforgettable! And on our Christmas Market trip along the Danube, almost our entire group went to see The Nutcracker at the magnificent Budapest Opera House.

After that trip, so many people told me The Nutcracker was a highlight because they were blown away by the talent. It was interesting hearing my clients talk to other guests on the ship who weren’t in our group—the non-group guests were quite jealous because no one told them about this special experience. You truly don’t know what you don’t know, and having me as your group leader, travel planner, and dedicated travel buddy is a huge advantage.
