Who Is the River Cruise Girl? My Story

I’ll be honest with you—it wasn’t love at first sight.

When I took my first cruise down the Rhine in 2017, I loved the concept: a floating boutique hotel, gliding past Impressionist landscapes and fairytale castles, waking up in a new heart-of-the-city port every morning. But the execution? It felt a bit… stagnant. Back then, the river cruise lines felt the same, and if you weren’t interested in a slow-paced walking tour, you were out of luck.

Then, 2023 changed everything.

I returned to the rivers and discovered an industry transformed. The “one-size-fits-all” model was gone. In its place were immersive food tours, bike treks through vineyards, painting classes in France, and deep-dive history excursions. Suddenly, the river wasn’t just a way to travel; it was a way to live.

Why I’m Obsessed with the River

I’m a big fan of the intimate ships and the fact you can’t get sea sick (thank you, calm river waters!). I thrive in smaller atmospheres where you don’t just have a cabin number—you have a name. I love that I can walk off the ship in thirty seconds, meet the Captain when we are docked, and swap stories in the lounge with the same group of friends I made at breakfast.
